Pausing your membership while your car is unavailable for borrowers

Short answer:

If you'd like to take a break from sharing your car, you can pause your Car Next Door membership if your car will be unavailable for more than one month. This is not available to Owners whose car is unavailable to Borrowers due to damage or repairs.

Pausing your membership

  1. Email members@carnextdoor.com.au and let us know the date you'd like to stop sharing and the date you'll start sharing your car again
  2. We'll let you know the next steps and take your car offline for the dates requested

Breaks of one month or less

If you're taking a break for a month or less, we'll take your car offline but you'll still pay your membership fee as usual. If your sharing plan includes insurance for your car at all times, your insurance coverage will continue while you're taking a break.

Breaks of more than one month

Longer than one month and up to three months - We'll pause your membership fee for the dates your car will be unavailable for Borrowers, but we'll leave our devices in your car. Make sure you take your lockbox off your car, or take your key out if your lockbox is on your property. Your car won't be covered by our insurance while your membership fee is paused.

Longer than three months - We'll pause your membership fee for the dates your car will be unavailable for Borrowers, and uninstall our devices from your car. When you're ready to start sharing again, we'll arrange to reinstall your car. Your car won't be covered by our insurance while your membership fee is paused.

If your car is unavailable for Borrowers due to damage, you won't be able to pause your membership. Your membership fee includes comprehensive insurance under our policy, which is what makes it possible for us to repair your car.
