Renting out your car with a suspended licence or L plates or P plates

Short answer:

You can rent your car out while your licence is suspended, but obviously you won't be able to drive it yourself or borrow cars through Car Next Door.

  • Please notify our staff when applying and we will take it into account when processing your application.
  • You will need to check the car from time to time, and if there are any issues you would need to get someone with a licence to drive it to the mechanic.

If you have a learner's or provisional licence, you can share your car, but you can't borrow other cars through Car Next Door. If your car is listed under a sharing plan that covers you for your own driving (the Legacy Owner plan or Instant Keys Plus+ plan), then your Damage Cover Liability amount will be higher while you are on your L's or P's.
