You pay for all of the fuel that is used in your car – whether it is used by you, your Additional Drivers, or Borrowers. You get reimbursed for any fuel that is used by Borrowers, through your 25c/km distance income.
If a borrower needs to fill up during their trip, they use the fuel card we'll put in your car. Any fuel bought on your car's fuel card will be charged to you, but you'll paid back through the distance income.
The RACQ estimates the running costs of a small or medium car to be between 11c and 18c per kilometre, so the distance payment of 25c/km should more than cover this.

Understanding fuel costs in your monthly invoice
You may find that the cost of fuel paid for with the fuel card exceeds the distance income you receive - particularly if the tank is filled near the end of the month.
A Borrower picked up Jan's car with an empty tank. They used the fuel card to fill up, then used half that tank of fuel during their trip. At the end of the trip, Jan is left with half a tank.
Jan is charged for the full tank of fuel purchased on the fuel card. She gets paid for the half-tank of fuel that the borrower used, through the distance charge. But she also has the other half a tank of fuel - she may use it herself, or the next Borrower may use it and pay her for it.

Can I see how much fuel a borrower has used?
On your invoice each month, you'll see each fuel charge listed with the quantity and type of fuel purchased.
Bear in mind that the quantity of fuel purchased by a Borrower may not be the quantity of fuel they used during their booking. As with the example above, a borrower may purchase a full tank of fuel but only use half of that fuel during their booking.
Unfortunately you're not able to see a how much fuel was purchased immediately after each trip ends as the fuel charges don't get processed until the end of each month.
Reminder: Car Owners must not use the fuel card
We have credit limits on the fuel cards, so please don’t use it yourself to pay for fuel – pay using your usual method instead.
