What happens if I don't pay my account on time? Overdue payment info for Borrowers.

Our community of car-sharers relies on everyone paying what they owe. Without this respect from one member of the community to another, neighbour-to-neighbour car-sharing won't work. 

Thankfully, almost all of our members pay their bills on time. If you miss a payment, we'll send a reminder. If you still don't pay the overdue amount, we will add a $10 late payment fee, as set out in the Fee Schedule.

 Important

Overdue amounts may be referred to a debt collection agency, the costs of which will be added to your debt, and also lead to a default being listed against your credit report.

Payment plans

If you can't pay the total amount you owe right now, please let us know your situation. We understand that things don't always go according to plan and want to do all we can to help you.

If it's a short-term issue – for example you're waiting for a new credit card – and you will be able to clear all overdue amounts within 15 days, please let us know and clear your balance as soon as possible. If you need more than 15 days to pay all outstanding amounts, we can organise a payment plan.

Payment plans may be offered at our discretion. If you would like to be put on a payment plan, please get in touch and we'll let you know if we can offer you this option.

Generally, payment plans can be for up to 3 months and the minimum weekly payment amount is $50. Failure to pay according to the agreed plan without prior agreement may mean you will automatically be put into our debt collection process.

I'm on a payment plan and I'm still receiving reminder emails

If you are on an agreed payment plan, you may still receive payment reminder emails. We are required to send you these emails by law, but as long as you are paying according to the agreed payment plan there's no need to worry. If you have any concerns, please contact us to confirm the payment plan arrangement.

Paying a debt already referred to debt collection

If we have notified you that we have referred your debt to a debt collection agency, you can still settle the balance with us. First, you'll need to contact the debt collection agency to ask for the total amount due. This will include any amounts owing to us as well as the agency's fees. Once you have the total amount due, you can choose to settle your debt directly with us or with the agency.
